Former U.S. ambassador to Syria to speak at GW

Robert Ford
October 28, 2014

**Please note: the time of the event has changed to 6:30 p.m.

On November 12, recent U.S. Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford will speak to the GW community in a public event at the Elliott School of International Affairs. As part of the annual Walter Roberts Lecture series, Ford will continue the tradition of speaking on current foreign policy matters in the context of communication and public diplomacy as a now-former U.S. government official. He will especially touch on the Obama administration's strategy for fighting terrorism in the Middle East and the role of social media and digital diplomacy in the war against ISIS.

The event will also continue the tradition of having Frank Sesno, Director of the School of Media and Public Affairs, engaging in a conversation with the ambassador in front of the audience, which will have an opportunity to ask questions at the end.

More info about the event and registration can be found here.

This event is part of the annual Walter Roberts Lecture series, which will take place this year in particular gravitas as the first event since the passing of Walter Roberts, founder of the institute and the Walter Roberts Endowment, this past summer.
