IPDGC Activities

Throughout the academic year, IPDGC organizes events and activities in order to promote greater understanding, academic research, and continued development of the practice of public diplomacy; to encourage exchanges of ideas and viewpoints between academics and practitioners, to offer students from George Washington University the learning and networking opportunities, to discuss current issues affecting relationships between people and their governments with the United States.

With the support of the Walter Roberts Endowment, the Institute organizes several annual activities:

Since 2011, the Walter Roberts Annual Lecture series - an annual lecture with prominent and distinguished speakers on foreign policy, American politics, and the world at large.

In 2018, the Institute created an award to recognize American lawmakers who have supported U.S. public diplomacy efforts. The recipient of the Inaugural IPDGC Walter Roberts Award for Leadership in Public Diplomacy was Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.).

The Institute has also welcomed the ocassional Visiting Scholar (2018: Kadir Ayhan) who have contributed to intellectual activities at the George Washington University.

Foreign delegations have also attended IPDGC workshops to learn about U.S. media, current topical issues in U.S. Government, politics, and foreign relations, as well as participated in communications (spokesperson) training.
