The Master of Arts in Global Communication is offered jointly by GW’s Elliott School of International Affairs and the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences’ School of Media and Public Affairs. This graduate program allows students to learn about public diplomacy and the global information environment. As future or advancing professionals in the field, students learn how to work in this environment and communicate effectively with audiences worldwide.
In partnership with the Walter Roberts Endowment, the Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication (IPDGC) promotes the understanding of modern-day diplomacy and global communication challenges, strengthening the connections between scholars and practitioners in the U.S. and around the world.

What drew me to GW’s Global Communication program was its structure and how thoughtfully it’s built. I appreciated that it offered a strong mix of theory and technical skills—things you need to succeed in the field. The capstone project especially stood out. The idea of working with a real-world client to solve a current communications challenge felt like a valuable way to put everything we’d learned into practice.
